I got a new DVD a few days ago recommended by a friend. I finally got round to watching it today.
And it was awesome.
It's called "Brotherhood of the Wolf" and if you haven't watched it go out and do so now. If you have to sell off a member of your family, or one of your organs or your soul to get it, then so be it. It's worth it.
It takes place in France, 1764, in a province called Gevaudan. There is a ferocious wolf-like monster terrorising the place. Incidentally, this is historical fact. There really were lupine beasts devouring people in that time and in that area. It's believed they were some sort of wolf-dog crossbreed or an imported hyena gone rogue. The King sends in his top hunter, accompanied by his Native American blood-brother. Who is also a martial arts expert. Yeah, that's right, an Iroquois Ninja. I assume I now have your full attention. There's fight scenes aplenty, gorgeous environments, the obligatory love story, a secret agent of the Vatican working in a brothel as a fortune teller, a secret society who use gypsies as their henchmen, oh and the beast itself is effing huge, covered in armour, has fangs of iron and has spikes coming off its back (no, I'm not going to tell you what it really is).
